Marshal Nancy Gardner has 26 years of professional law enforcement experience with three Arizona police agencies. On February 27, 2012 she was appointed as the Town Marshal (Police Chief) for the Town of Camp Verde, preceded by 5 years with the Avondale Police Department and 16 years with the Gilbert Police Department. Marshal Gardner worked her way through the ranks while at the Gilbert Police Department where she served as their first female SWAT team member and SWAT Commander. Marshal Gardner served in the capacity of a Lieutenant and SWAT team Commander for the Avondale Police Department.
Marshal Gardner holds a Master's Degree in Counseling and Human Relations from Northern Arizona University and Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Arizona. She is a graduate of the Police Staff and Command from Northwestern University of Arizona. Marshal Gardner is the chair for the Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy, and she serves on the steering committee for MatForce.
Throughout her career, Marshal Gardner has encouraged the practice of community policing, through transparency and community involvement by hosting monthly coffee with a COP meetings, participating in “Meals on Wheels” by walking and food collection for the elderly in her community. She has promoted a culture of exceptional customer service, treating each citizen contact as an opportunity to promote professionalism and provide quality service.
Marshal Gardner has been married to her husband, Mark for 35 years and they have 3 adult daughters and 6 grandchildren.
