DrugFreeAz.org is the premier, research based, nonprofit drug prevention organization in the state of Arizona, endorsed by the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police. DrugFreeAz.org provides education to parents, teens, doctors, teachers, caregivers, law enforcement and other community partners to stop youth drug and alcohol use before it starts.

The purpose of this Association is to promote and enhance cooperation and coordination between the public and private entities and individuals in the interests of law enforcement.

AACOP Conference

Coming in 2014 approximately 200 Chiefs, Sheriffs and law enforcement administrators from throughout Arizona will convene at the 2014 Laughlin Training and Vendor Expo sponsored by the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police at the Edgewater Resort and Casino.

The Laughlin event is the largest gathering of law enforcement officials for the State of Arizona and the Expo has grown from 13 vendors to 93 in just three years. It is truly an excellent opportunity to meet

Sedona Sgt Position

The City of Sedona is currently recruiting for the position of Police Sergeant.  Applicants must be currently Arizona POST certified police officers with five years of experience and not currently serving in a probationary status as a new employee, or four years of certified experience with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field of study with the same non-probationary status requirement.

Town of Superior Sgt. Position

The Town of Superior, Arizona is currently recruiting for the position of Police Sergeant. The minimum requirements to be considered are; at least 7 years of sworn law enforcement experience with at least 4 years of plain clothes investigative experience with a municipal, county or State agency responsible for the investigation of criminal offenses. A Bachelor degree in criminal justice or similar focus of study and some supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Applicants must be Arizona POST certified or have the ability to obtain Arizona POST certification through the waiver process.

Applications may be obtained from Town Hall by calling 520-689-5752, or at 199 N. Lobb Ave. between 8:00 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday.  Position is open until filled.

The City of Safford Police Chief

The City of Safford, Arizona, (Population 9,566) is seeking qualified applicants for Police Chief.  Under the general guidance and direction of the City Manager, the Chief oversees annual budget of $3.7 million and performs a variety of complex administrative, supervisory and professional work in planning, organizing and managing the activities and personnel of the Police Department.  The position is a member of the City's management team and works closely with other local and regional agencies.  Must reside within the Safford city limits or establish residency within six (6) months of date of hire.  This is an FLSA exempt position.  Employment with the City of Safford is on an at-will basis.

TOWN OF WELLTON POLICE CHIEF

This is a highly important administrative position involving responsibility for all police functions and requiring exceptional ability to plan and direct law enforcement activities on a large scale. The instruction and training of recruits, as well as the maintenance of high standards of performance throughout the department, are the final responsibilities of the Chief. Chiefs Gather to Pay Tribute

On March 3, 2014, at about 3:15 p.m., Detective John Hobbs was killed in the line of duty and his partner was seriously wounded. Police Chiefs from around the state gathered to pay tribute. See a video of the gathering.

Survivors of sexual assault face many challenges when deciding whether or not to report the crime. Choosing not to report allows an offender to commit multiple sex crimes on other victims. If a survivor does report, they find themselves submitting to embarrassing interviews, medical examinations, and scrutiny from family, friends and even the community at large.

Town of Superior Police Chief

This is a professional level administrative position responsible for the management, supervision, planning, directing and reviewing the work of Police Department personnel and technical police work. This position is responsible for decision-making, independent judgment in interpreting rules and regulations, and applying State law and Town Ordinances. Coordinate assigned responsibilities with outside agencies, and provide highly responsible, complex and administrative support to the Town of Superior.

2014 Priorities

Chief Michael Frazier, the President of the AACOP Executive Board, has set the following priorities for the Executive Board in 2014.

  1. Legislative--maintain a presence at the legislature through the AACOP lobbyist to ensure that the perspective of membership is included when considering new legislation.
  2. Training--provide relevant training opportunities to our members to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to be successful.  
  3. Drug Free AZ.org—support and facilitate their message of education and training to keep our youth from indulging in the use of illegal drugs among the onslaught of legalization efforts.
  4. Retired Members—further develop their role and function as newly incorporated members within AACOP and leverage their experience, knowledge, and influence.  
  5. Membership—maintain our current membership and expand moving forward to remain a force as the voice of law enforcement in Arizona.
  6. Fund Raising—continue to identify funding opportunities to fulfill the mission of AACOP.
  7. State Accreditation—continue to evaluate a state accreditation program to determine its viability for Arizona law enforcement .
