The next Chief of Police for Gilbert, Arizona will lead a highly professional and progressive agency in the “2nd Safest City” in the country. Gilbert is growing quickly and the next Chief of Police will have the opportunity to help shape the Department during this exciting period. The Chief of Police is an at-will position that reports to the Town Manager. Responsible for all functions and operations of the Police Department, the Chief of Police is required to provide decisive and principled leadership, and demonstrate exemplary behavior to serve as a role model within the agency and across the community. The Chief of Police leads an organization that has 365 total positions (240 sworn), operating with an annual budget of $48 million. Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field, as well as extensive, progressively responsible administrative and supervisory experience in law enforcement. Salary range is $142,800 – $228,500, dependent upon qualifications, with the starting salary anticipated to be in the lower to mid-range. The City offers a comprehensive benefits package.
